The Ecuadorian Hermit Crab is one of the smallest species available. They are very active and run very fast. They run forward, sideways and backwards at all the same speeds. The love to dig. E’s are more active during the day than any other species. As the body color of this species varies, it may be mistaken for a ruggie. They require sea water as they live near the beach. They are clean, safe to handle and can live for years with the proper care and treatment. We recommend using sand and coconut fiber substrate for them to dig and molt in. We do NOT recommend plastic critter cages as a permanent home as it will not hold the temperature and humidity at the levels they need. Always have additional shells available for your crabs to switch into. If you have any questions, please email us and we will respond. You can also connect with us in Live Chat if we are online. PLEASE SEE THE CARE SHEET LINK FOR PROPER TANK CONDITIONS.
Please allow up to 2 weeks for your order to be processed and shipped. During the winter and summer months, live orders may be delayed further if the weather is too cold or too hot to ship. Our main concern is the safety of the crabs.
ALL OF OUR HERMIT CRABS ARE SHIPPED IN A BURLAP BAG WITH WET MOSS AND A SPONGE. WE PACK WITH HEAT PACKS OR ICE PACKS DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE BURLAP IS THEN PLACED IN A STYROFOAM LINED SHIPPING BOX AND MARKED LIVE ANIMALS AND PROTECT FROM HEAT AND COLD. We recommend someone be present to accept the delivery and get the crab in a suitable habitat as soon as possible.
SIZES MAY BE SUBSTITUTED IF STOCK IS LIMITED.
